I found this pair of headphones when I was looking for perfect sound quality combined with less fatigue. I listen to hours and hours of music and I like it loud. At some point, wearing the headphones and listening to music becomes tiring. I thought that was a normal thing to happen, but I found out the decibels have a considerable influence on this aspect.
The Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones feature an advanced acoustic design. More specifically, the SPL levels were reduced to a range between 3 to 4 decibels. Ultrasone states that this modification allows you to listen to loud music and become less tired even after you listen for hours in a row. This description has convinced me from the start, so I ordered them to find out if things are really so.
The package came with a lot of accessories included, which is quite nice. However, I was looking forward to the listening experience. I mostly like metal music genres, which do not involve high sounds. So, I have also mixed a few other music genres in my playlist in order to evaluate the sound of HFI-780 S-Logic entirely.
These headphones are recommended to professionals too and I must say they met all my expectations. After 6 hours of heavy listening I was not tired because of the music. Overall the sound is warm, rich and proficient in separating the instruments. I give them a plus for voice clarity as well. The surround sound makes me feel like I am in a concert hall. This detail is amazing as well.
The headband was a little tight at first, but since the main material a type of flexible plastic I am sure they will loosen up after a few days of usage. This type of fit ensures the quality of the sound without introducing any noise cancelling feature.
About the Manufacturer: Ultrasone
Ultrasone might be a relatively new company that produces headphones, but they had a great start with the S-Logic technology. Originally from Germany, Ultrasone has now extended in Taiwan as well. Their main technology is based on producing headphones which can generate a sound similar with the one that comes from loudspeakers.
Ultrasone has also focused on producing audio equipment safe for hearing. It seems that the electromagnetic radiation can affect the health of one’s ears. This company has tried to find ways to reduce this type of radiation and it has succeeded. You can see their website here.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones
Nice and conventional looks – The materials used for making Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic are mostly plastic and light-weighted metals. The ear cups are embellished with a shiny metallic cover. The headband is provided with a layer of cushions on the inside. This model is foldable and weights less than 300 grams.
Reduced SPL levels – Your listening experience will be less tiring. The decibels pressure will no longer affect your ears.
Reduced electromagnetic radiations – For the health of your hearing, Ultrasone has used MU metal shielding, which is known to reduce the electromagnetic radiations.
Surround Sound – Prepare for an experience similar to listening music through loudspeakers or similar to being in a concert hall.
Heavy pressure from the headband – This is a very common problem of any set of headphones really. This is because we all have different head shapes and sizes. It is simply impossible to please everyone from this point of view.
Although many people have complains about the headband being to stiff and the clamp too tight, I am not worried about my pair. It is indeed a bit tight, but nothing out of the ordinary. I am happy with the reduced electromagnetic radiations and with the reduced SPL levels. Overall, Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic are a great buy.
